Step one, inhale.
feel the oxygen seeping into your lungs,
muscles expanding,
heart beating,
blood pulsing through burning veins.
The next step must not be taken too quickly-
hold onto the silence until it hurts and the air escapes,
filling the space around you with doubts and troubles,
worries and cares that no longer matter.
Take a step back, allow yourself to see more than the centerpiece,
peer across the edges of your sanity into the cracks and grooves of the picture frame.
Now step forward, grab the reins with confidence,
steady your shaking hands and realize it's not over,
not until the painter put's down his brush,
wipes off his paint splattered hands,
and sets you on the eisel with a proud smile,
ready to show the world his masterpiece.
